Laughing in the face of 50 degrees!
Nick Page to make regional debut and launch another Laughter Factory pop up venue, at Le Meridien Dubai.
The rest of the nightlife community might still be stuck in second gear right now, but here at The Laughter Factory, we’re firing on all cylinders.
Not only are we opening a brand new venue at Le Meridein Dubai,
But we are delighted to announce a sizzling bill of world class stand-up on tour throughout Dubai and Abu Dhabi in August.
Known as ‘The King of Devastating punchlines’, we are about to get smacked around the chops by comedy heavy weight, Nick Page.
We guarantee, this is the type of punishment, you won’t want to end.
Next on the bill and following on from a string of sellout shows in the UK; John Fothergill has the timing of a swiss watch, which is probably one of the reasons he was managed by Chad Chandler, the infamous character, who brought Jimmy Hendrix to Britain from the states.
The only time you aren’t laughing at John Fothergill is when you are gasping for breath.
Gail Clough, the organizer says “we predict that someday, someone will die of laughter, at one of his gigs, I hope it’s me, I’d love to go that way, just not this week”
Last on the bill is Irish favourite Paddy Lennox. This guy didn’t kiss the blarney stone, he swallowed it!

Introducing the comics…
With storytelling comics there’s a moment where the audience asks themselves ‘I wonder if that’s true?’. With Nick there is more doubt, because the stories are so outlandish, and yet at the same time there’s the sure knowledge that every story is true, and that his is a life lived laughing from disaster to disaster.
He’s definitely one of those people you shouldn’t like but do. He has an enviable gag rate, with each story and routine filled with set ups, call backs and devastating punchlines. His stories are unique, yet relate to everyone. Everyone has felt frustrated by the legal system, nobody else has tried to go to prison to prove a point. Everyone watches daytime TV, nobody else has been sacked from it for an incident involving a Russian call girl and an antique rocking horse.
Nick’s comedy has taken him all over the world, with performances in (wait for it) France, Germany, Switzerland, Hungary, Romania, Austria, Cyprus, Egypt, Turkey, Crete, China, The Philippines, Hong Kong, Afghanistan, Oman, Qatar, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Spain, Croatia, Slovakia, Slovenia, The Czech Republic, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Italy, Singapore, Vietnam, Bali, Indonesia, Malaysia and Russia.
Nick placed second at ‘The English Comedian of the Year’ 2016. His debut Edinburgh Festival show had sell-out performances, critical acclaim and a host of 4 star reviews. He is in enormous demand in comedy clubs throughout the UK, as a headline act and MC, and has been for the last 12 years.
WITH SELL OUT SHOWS IN MOST EVERY CITY IN THE U.K, NUMEROUS APPEARANCES ACROSS THE GLOBE INCLUDING THE FAR EAST & MIDDLE EAST,
ACCLAIMED PERFORMANCES AT CAPETOWN,ADELAIDE, MELBOURNE,NEW ZEALAND, EDINBURGH FRINGE AND DERRYS EXCLUSIVE COMEDY FESTIVAL,
SPECIAL GUEST ACT FOR LITTLE BRITAIN LIVE AND ED BYRNE’S LIVE TOUR , T.V. APPEARANCES INCLUDING “LIVE AT THE COMEDY STORE’, “LIVE AT JONGLEURS” AND DUBLINS “LAUGHTER LOUNGE” ALSO VARIOUS TOPICAL COMEDY SHOWS AND A LONG TERM MEMBER OF THE “IMPRESSIVE AND INFLUENTIAL” CUTTING EDGE TEAM AT LONDONS FAMOUS COMEDY STORE , JOHN FOTHERGILL HAS PROVED HIMSELF AS A REGULAR HEADLINER AT THE MOST PRESTIGIOUS COMEDY VENUES IN THE WORLD AND ONE OF THE MOST EXPIERIENCED COMEDIANS IN THE BUSINESS.
One of the best things about watching live comedy is seeing a comedian finally find their comic voice. Some comics never find it, but when one does, there’s no mistaking it. Suddenly, that ordinary bloke behind the mic becomes a cartoon version of himself. Everything he says is funny, and anything that happens to him is more material for his act. It’s partly about finding out who you really are, and how the punters really see you, but the main part remains a mystery. Yet whatever that mystery consists of, John Fothergill has just found it. He’s always been a solid comic, but now he looks like he was born on stage, under a follow spot, with a mic in his hand.
He started out in showbiz in a band called One Hand One Heart, managed by Chas Chandler of Slade,
Animals and Jimi Hendrix fame. They were signed by Epic, then Sony, and after they were dropped, he went to work on a gas rig. It’s my guess that this cocktail of toil and rock’n’roll is what made him a comic. See for yourself.
