The Evil Genius Tour

One of the funniest women in the UK Jojo Smith goes head to head with two of the most respected comic’s in the business on an all-star Laughter Factory bill in September.

An outrageous and hard-living survivor, Jo Jo comes from the straight-talking, risk-taking school of UK stand-up – a comedic force who is taking no prisoners.

She will face competition from the relaxed delivery of John Moloney, a bemused observational Englishman who highlights madness in the mundane, Winner of the Best Live Performer award for two years running at the London Comedy Festival, John has become one of Britain’s most in-demand comedians.

A third voice comes from the slick, topical and slyly witty Jeff Innocent, voted Best Live Club Comedian 2016 AT the UK Comedy Awards

Comedy may not be a competition, but we think you’ll struggle to pick a winner here.

 Introducing the comics…

JoJo Smith

Raunchy comedienne, very, very funny” London Evening Standard

In the last four years Jojo Smith has gone from open spot to British late-night television star (Funny Business) to global fame on the internet and to international comedy performer. Not bad going for someone who previously had never stood on a stage in her life.

From South Africa to the Edinburgh Festival to the Sydney Comedy Festival she delights comedy goers all over the world with her unique brand of punchy, in your face, no holds barred comedy.

Jojo gigs extensively around the UK and can be seen on a weekly basis on the top comedy circuit. Other live work has included a sell-out UK tour supporting Craig Charles, where she quickly got used to playing thousand-seater halls.

For the past two years, the Edinburgh Festival saw Jojo working for BBC Scotland’s network programme, Edinburgh Nights as Comedy Consultant.

During the 40 episodes of Funny Business which she wrote and presented Jojo made a name for herself as a chat show host of the old school. That is, she let her guests do the talking – everyone form Brian Conley to Lee Evans, Craig Charles to Jimmy Cricket, Jo Brand to Joe Pasquale, and a million more in between.

During the last Comic Relief she made history by becoming one of the first stand-ups to perform on the internet and is now apparently massive in Rumania!

Television appearances include Jo Brand Through the Cakehole (Channel X for Channel 4), Central Weekend (Central/Carlton), Late and Loud (Carlton), as well as Thursday Night Live (Carlton), Elvis Has Just Left The Building (Granada), Is That It? (Anglia) and Esther (BBC).

Radio credits include John Shuttleworth And Friends (Radio 1), Fi Glover, Mark Lamarr, Pete Curran and Jeremy Nicholas (all GLR), The Julie Goodyear Show (Talk Radio) and The Treatment (Radio 5 Live)

“It’s well worth seeking out Funny Business in the early hours on ITV. Jojo Smith pulls off the difficult task of analysing comedy, while being funny at the same time” Martin Kelner, Daily Mail

John Moloney

John Moloney has been a professional comedian for over twenty-five years, and has entertained audiences across the globe with his crafted, intelligent and original stand-up routines.

John was also delighted to be nominated as ‘Best Live Stand-Up’ at the British Comedy Awards – but was even happier to be the WINNER in the Category “ Outstanding Contribution to UK Comedy “ in 2015.

John’s Radio 4 was Pick of the Year in 2016, and has been re-commissioned in 2017.

John is highly sought-after on the Corporate Circuit, and has developed a relationship with many blue-chip clients, who use his services at their events and conferences year after year.

“John Moloney is one of the most creative and professional comedians I have had the pleasure to work with – quick off the mark – John will have had the audience laughing three times in the time that it takes any other comedian to say ‘hello’.

John is a firm favourite of the Comedy Store – and a firm favourite of mine.”

Jeff Innocent

PROFFESIONAL BIOGRAPHY
Jeff Innocent is a popular and experienced stand up comedian, actor, writer and cultural commentator. As a stand up comedian he has reached near legendary status among his peers and audience alike by staying at the top of his game for over 15 years. and was Runner Up for 2013, 2014 and 2015, won Best In Fest at the Norwich Comedy Festival 2014 and was nominated in the 2015 Chortle Awards Best Live Club Act category. His unique appeal lies in the contrast between his East End ‘Geezer’ appearance and demeanour, and his educated, philosophical delivery and subject matter. Inspiring the guardian to describe him as a comedian with, ‘The body of a nightclub bouncer and the brains of a university boffin’.
He continues to cement his position within the premiership of British comedians with his weekly performances at clubs like Jongleurs and The Comedy Store, featuring in the 2013 movie, ‘The Comedy Store, Raw and Uncut’. He has also taken solo shows to The Edinburgh Fringe and HAS RECENTLY TOURED THE UK WITH HIS SHOW ENTITLED, ‘JEFF INNOCENT’S GUIDE TO GROWING OLD IN THE 21ST CENTURY’ and is constantly touring the UK. The spread of the comedy circuit globally has found Jeff performing in such unlikely and far flung locations as China, India, Norway and Vietnam to name but a few.
His recent acting credits include appearances in the children’s TV programme, ‘Little Howards Big Question’ and BBC’s extremely popular historical drama series, ‘Call The Midwife’.
As a writer he has contributed to a number of publications and websites such The Independent, The Ecologist and London Is Funny, on a wide range of topics including environmental issues, history and music. He also lectures on stand up comedy at The London Comedy School.

PERSONAL HISTORY
Born in East London during the mid 1950’s, Jeff Innocent grew up in a family whose entrepreneurial spirit and activities were not always considered acceptable by the police. He managed to avoid going in to the family business however by taking a keen interest in youth theatre and Jamaican music. He took part in many productions as a teenager, primarily with the East End Soapbox Theatre, a collective which also spawned performance poet John Hegley. But it took over twenty years before he was to tread the boards again as a comedian.

After leaving school his first job was as a windowdresser in the mens fashion trade working in London’s trendy Kings Road and Carnaby Street during the early 1970’s until the early 1980’s when he became a mature student at the University of East London studying philosophy and history, achieving a BA Hons and an MA. He maintained his interest in Jamaican music by DJ’ing and contributing to fanzines during this period. His post graduate dissertation topic being, The History of Jamaican Music. He financed his studying by working in the fashion industry at Camden Market and High Street Kensington.

It was after his experience at University that he decided to try stand up comedy, something that he had wanted to do for some years. His initiation was at a workshop in Stratford East London run by the God Father of Alternative Comedy, Tony Allen. Although being a stand up comedian and actor dominates much of Jeff’s time he still maintains an interest in music and popular culture. He still lives in the East End with his partner of 26 years, the youngest of his four children and his two whippets. But not necessarily in that order.
