Your ‘New Year’s Dissolution!’ Tour

One New Years Eve resolution that is easy to keep is ’Laugh More! You die in the end, Dummy!’

The Laughter Factory is here to rescue your sanity and prevent you from falling off the wagon and into the abyss of expat boredom.

‘If comedy is the new Rock n Roll then Tom Stade is Keith Richards’

This January, the Laughter Factory is giving Barsha Heights and Al Furjan an injection of pure wickedness with two brand new venues opening at TRYP by Wyndam Dubai and Al Fujan Clubhouse.

To ensure you and your crew are laughing non-stop we have one of the worlds most respected stand ups, Tom Stade making sure you sit up straight and pay attaention.

Ask most comics who their favourite comedian is and his name nearly always crops up. Described by the Guardian as, “AN EPIC QUALITY THAT ELEVATES EVERYDAY OBSERVATIONS TO A PHILOSOPHICAL TREATISE.

Tom Stade is one of the most distinctive and exciting talents in the comedy world

Also, Larry Dean was crowned Scottish Comedian Of The Year when he was 23, and since then his star has continued to rise.

Invited to join Kevin Hart at ‘The Just for Laughs’ comedy festival in Montreal, Larry Dean has a pure gag rate that matches any arena comic.

Finally, having been proclaimed a feminist icon in Cape Town, JoJo Smith swiftly moved on and made the laid back Aussies wonder what had hit them.

This elder stateswoman of British stand up is far too outrageous for television. You have to come and see her live and try if you can, to remember her words.

Tom Stade

STAR OF BBC ONE’S LIVE AT THE APOLLO, THE JOHN BISHOP SHOW

& MICHAEL MCINTYRE’S COMEDY ROADSHOW

CH4’S COMEDY GALA & STAND-UP FOR THE WEEK

& DAVE’S ONE NIGHT STAND

Since arriving in the UK, Canadian émigré Tom Stade has steadily earned a reputation as one of the most distinctive and exciting stand-up talents around. He instantly made a splash on the UK circuit with his magnetic stage presence and first-class story-telling, and after years topping the bill and playing at international comedy festivals around the globe, he is now established as a leading touring act in his own right, and finds himself well on the road to being a household name.

A prolific writer, Tom is a regular fixture at the Edinburgh festival (the city he has chosen to call home); playing every year to sell-out crowds, and steadily growing his audience. He has toured with a brand-new show every year since 2011, playing to packed houses across the UK, garnering rave reviews and amassing legions of fans. Last year, he returned to the Edinburgh Festival with I Swear; a show he toured extensively across the UK throughout 2017 with extra dates added due to phenomenal demand. Picking up where he left off, Tom returned to the festival this year with the sequel to his previous show: I Swear To. Tom will be touring this latest show across the UK next year.

Tom’s irrepressible charm translated effortlessly to TV, and he has been invited onto every major stand-up TV show in the country. He has performed on BBC One’s The John Bishop Show and has performed twice on BBC One’s Live at the Apollo. He performed to his largest live audience to date joining the star-studded line-up on Ch4’s Comedy Gala at London’s 02 arena back in 2013. He has also performed on Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow and Lee Mack’s All Star Cast, both for BBC One, Edinburgh Comedy Fest Live for BBC Three and The Boyle Variety Performance for Ch4. He has performed twice on Ch4’s Stand-Up for the Week, was given an extended set on Dave’s One Night Stand and has also guested on BBC 2’s topical panel show Mock The Week. Other stand-up appearances include Comedy Central’s The World Stand’s Up, ITV2’s Comedy Cuts and multiple performances on Comedy Central’s The Comedy Store.

Tom was the co-writer and co-star of Frankie Boyle’s Ch4 infamous and edgy series Tramadol Nights. He has starred as a spoof chat-show host in Come Fringe Yourself with Tom Stade, which was recorded at the Edinburgh festival in 2015 and gathered a cult online following. He then went on to co-write and star in an online series entitled M.U.F.F. alongside Daniel Sloss. The innovative series; which was set in an anarchic TV production company was entirely independently funded and produced, and encapsulated Tom’s carefree, entrepreneurial spirit and wild imagination.

Back in his native Canada, Tom appeared in the critically acclaimed sitcom The Newsroom and the award-winning feature film My Own Private Oshawa. As a stand-up he starred in his own hour special for CBC/Comedy Central Stade and Confused.

A stylish and engaging live performer, Tom remains in great demand internationally and has accepted invitations to perform at notable comedy festivals worldwide including New York, Aspen, Montreal, Toronto, Amsterdam, Kilkenny, Adelaide, Melbourne and New Zealand. He has regularly entertained British troops overseas, braving the freezing cold Falklands, and been under fire in Afghanistan and Iraq; proving his utter versatility and universal appeal. His brilliance and flair earned him a nomination for Best Headliner at the Chortle Awards.

Tom Stade Live was released on DVD in 2013 and is widely available online. He recorded and produced his last live show I Swear; which is now available to download for free from his website.

JOJO SMITH

In the last quarter century JoJo has gone from open spot to late night TV personality, from global fame on the Internet to international comedy performer, not bad going for someone who until then had never stood on a stage in her life.

International performances include sold out tours of Europe, South Africa, Sri Lanka, India, Australia, Cambodia, Vietnam,Thailand, The Philippines, China and the UAE. Her strong views had her proclaimed a feminist icon in Cape Town, and quite frankly the laid back Aussies wondered what had hit them. Safe to say she made quite an impact!

During the 40-odd episodes of Funny Business that JoJo wrote and presented she made a name for herself as a chat show host of the old school, that is she let the guests do the talking. Fifteen years as a newspaper journalist taught her you get more out of someone if you shut up. Her guests included Jimmy Cricket, Lee Evans, Jo Brand and Rich Hall.

A sold-out 20 date tour as support to Craig Charles quickly got her used to playing 1000+ seater venues, and she has consolidated her success as a stand-up by regularly topping the bills at venues all over the UK. She was the first (and only) comedian to encore on a Jongleurs open spot.

For Comic Relief she performed live on the Internet, and is apparently massive in Romania. She also appeared at the London Palladium in aid of the striking Liverpool Dockers, as well as countless benefits in aid of cancer research and support.

Comedy is her first love but she began her working life while still at college. Punk Rock happened, and JoJo produced her own fanzine, The Ligger. She interviewed all her heroes, The Clash, Ian Dury, the Sex Pistols, and a million one hit wonders.

The fanzine led to paid work for various music papers including Smash Hits, NME, The Face and Record Mirror. It was a positive review in the latter that led to her being invited to work for Dexys Midnight Runners as their PA.

After Dexys she became a bingo caller at Butlins, before returning to journalism. The writing reached it’s apex with a showbiz feature-writer’s job at the Evening Standard. Her quest for fame via a picture by-line led to her appearing on One Hour With Jonathan Ross. Something that was to stand her in good stead as it was production company Channel X who later approached her and offered her the chance to make Funny Business.

A diagnosis of Repetitive Strain Injury combined with an interview with the late, great Bill Hicks, gave JoJo the impetus she needed to take the plunge into the world of stand-up comedy, and she hasn’t looked back since.

JoJo made her TV stand-up debut on Craig Charles’ late night ITV show, The Funky Bunker, proving to fans of her laid-back presenting style that she could not only talk about comedy, she could do it too. They loved her ‘in yer face with a twinkle in her eye’ brand of comedy. This was followed more recently with appearances on not one but two series of Open Mike for Comedy Central.

JoJo finally made her solo Edinburgh Fringe debut with her critically-acclaimed autobiographical show entitled I Was Mick Jones’ Bank Clerk in 2016.

WHAT THE PAPERS SAY

“A manic force, leading where male stand-ups fear to tread”

Sydney Morning Herald

“Raunchy comedienne, very, very, funny”

London Evening Standard

“It’s worth seeking out Funny Business on ITV in the early hours of Sunday morning. JoJo Smith pulls off the difficult task of analysing comedy while being funny at the same time”

Martin Kelner, Daily Mail

“JoJo Smith is a rollicking good stand-up, but she is also so blue she makes Jo Brand look like one of the nuns in The Sound of Music”

James Rampton, The Independent

“The  funniest, most dangerous woman in Britain”

Cape Argus, Cape Town
