Stand-up comedy + unlimited food + free-flowing drinks = good times

Comedy institution The Laughter Factory has stepped up to launch the UAE’s first “comedy brunch”.

That’s right: food, drinks and laughs, all under one roof… what could make a funner – or funnier – night?

Comedy fans can now grab a new all-inclusive package offering unlimited food and drinks, plus a full live show from three top stand-up comedians, all on loan from the UK’s Comedy Store.

The deal includes a ticket to The Laughter Factory’s award-winning show (normally Dh140), plus an international buffet from a five-star hotel, with free-flowing house beverages, all for just Dhs320 (or Dhs280 with soft drinks).

This month’s bill stars Canada’s Comedian of the Year award winner Simon B Cotter, UK telly face Luke Toulson (Russell Howard’s Good News) and Andrew Bird – who was handpicked by Rhod Gilbert and Lee Hurst to warm up for their respective UK tours.

The brunch is on offer at the Mövenpick Hotel, JBR, and Grand Millennium, TECOM venues, with the buffet and free-flowing hops, grape and short drinks open from 7pm-9pm, before heading into the show at 9pm.

See below for full tour details. Normal show tickets are still available to all venues. Group packages, including discounts on drinks inside the venue, are available – call 04 355 1862 for details.

About the comics

Winner of Canada’s Comedian of the Year award, Simon B Cotter’s comedic talents have been featured at world’s largest international comedy festival, The Just for Laughs Festival, in Montreal. He’s hosted his own comedy special on CBC and has had guest appearances on a number of shows including Open Mike with Mike Bullard, and CBC’s Comics.

Cotter’s TV popularity comes thanks to his proud rejection of going for the cheap laugh based on vulgarity, race, or gender.

Instead, this guy is a storyteller delighting audiences with his razor sharp wit and unique perception of life’s day-to-day events, and many absurdities.

Luke Toulson shot into instant stardom after his TV appearance on Russell Howard’s Good News.

His regular contributions as a writer for the UK’s BBC and Channel 4 earned him a reputation as being one of the fastest growing stars in the UK.

Described as “a gifted comic” by The Sunday Times, Toulson is guaranteed to deliver the very finest in live stand up.

When A-lister comics Rhod Gilbert and Lee Hurst needed the best possible stand up in the business to warm up their sell-out tours, Andrew Bird was their obvious choice. Bird has a charming and personable manner that engages the audience from the minute he starts to speak. His ability to hold the audience’s attention, draws them deeper into the running narrative, making his time on stage fly by. His show is a beautifully observed and insightful piece of storytelling which doesn’t scrimp on the laughs.

Bird makes very personal stories accessible to the audience, introducing childhood chums and characters that have been integral or fleeting in his life, with such warmth and detail that one can immediately relate with them.
